A Missouri resident embarked on an extraordinary adventure, breaking a world record by navigating a hollowed-out pumpkin, which he had personally cultivated.
Steve Kueny, hailing from Lebanon, carved his self-grown 1,208-pound pumpkin into a boat, affectionately named "Huckle Berry." Kueny paddled for a remarkable 11 hours along a 38.4-mile stretch of the Missouri River, commencing from Kansas City, Kansas, and concluding in Napoleon, Missouri.
Kueny was joined on his journey by approximately a dozen boats from the Paddle KC Padding Club. Members of the club played a crucial role in offering support and documenting this impressive undertaking.
It's worth noting that Duane Hansen, a resident of Nebraska, had previously set the Guinness World Record for the longest journey by a pumpkin boat (paddling), covering 37.5 miles in 2022. Kueny's team asserted that he had surpassed Hansen's record by successfully navigating 38.4 miles.
To secure official certification, evidence from Kueny's attempt is presently being submitted to Guinness World Records.
