Flight delayed by mosquito swarm in the passenger cabin

The departure of Volaris Flight VOI221 from Guadalajara to Mexico City was disrupted by a mosquito infestation, causing a delay of more than 2 hours.

The flight, initially scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. local time departure, didn't take off until 6:59 p.m. as both the crew and passengers joined efforts to combat the unexpected mosquito invasion.

Video footage captured by passengers documents the scene as mosquitoes were swatted by passengers and doused with bug spray by vigilant flight attendants.

Passengers on board reported that the mosquito presence waned once the cabin lights were dimmed.

Guadalajara International Airport's location, nestled amidst dense vegetation and prone to periodic flooding, provides an ideal breeding ground for these insects.
