The Missouri Department of Conservation is preparing to celebrate the sixth birthday of one of its most unique creatures: a two-headed snake.
This female two-headed western ratsnake, affectionately named Tiger-Lily, was discovered by a family in Stone County during the autumn of 2017 and was subsequently donated to the Department of Conservation's Shepherd of the Hills Conservation Center.
The department has announced that Tiger-Lily's birthday festivities will take place this Saturday at the Scenic Overlook parking lot within MDC's Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area in Branson.
MDC Interpretive Center Manager, Alison Bleich, shared that Tiger-Lily has now reached an impressive length of nearly 5 feet.
"Both of her heads have their appetites, but they share a single esophagus," Bleich explained in the birthday party announcement. "To ensure they each get a fair meal, we cover one head with a small cup while the other head dines, and then we switch it. Otherwise, they'd both be attempting to snatch the same mouse."
