A 22-year-old social media sensation achieved a remarkable Guinness World Record by performing an unconventional feat: pulling his lower lip over his nose, a skill known as "gurning," and holding the position for an impressive 1 minute and 2 seconds.
Jovante Carter, also known as HolyGxD on Instagram, hails from New Orleans and demonstrated his signature talent on the set of Guinness World Records' Italian TV series, "Lo Show dei Record" in Milan.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Marco Frigatti explained the difficulty of the feat, stating, "When performing this trick with the face, you can't breathe. Effectively, you need to suspend your breath, and all the muscles involved become quite fatigued."
Carter's achievement shattered the previous record of 53 seconds, which was set by China's Shuquan Tang in 2012.
Carter shared that he discovered his unique talent back in third grade, recalling, "I was having lunch, and my classmate pointed out that when I ate, my entire face disappeared. He asked me to try chewing without food, and as I did, I unintentionally made this face! It prompted laughter from everyone, and my teacher was astonished."
